What Book(s) Am I Reading?

Reading is one of my fun hobbies. I grew up a book nerd. Then, I would read all sorts of science books and very little fiction. I then went through a dark period in which I took up other interests, but I was never one to shy away from hanging out in the library in high school.

A few years ago, I picked up my passion once again and started to go through what I call “Mark’s Great Backlog.”  This would include all books I missed out on, and even rereads from my youth.

So What Are You Reading Now?

Game of Thrones

Currently, I am rereading “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. I am on the first book “Game of Thrones.”

In my search for a good fantasy book I kept seeing recommendations for this series. I read the summary and decided to purchase, at the time, the first four published books. I started with the first and soon found myself stuck to the page iPad screen. I believe I was almost finished with the third book when I learned HBO was making a TV Show. I was pumped. After reading a few fantasy novels, including The Hobbit, I was thoroughly enjoying the uprooting of fantasy tropes. By the time I had finished A Feast for Crows, A Dance of Dragons was released. I too quickly devoured through that massive book.  In hindsight, I read a bit too quickly as we fast forward many years later, I now await the sixth book and have relegated myself to reading fan theories to satisfy my need to have more Westeros in my life.

The World of Ice and Fire

After some time, I finally decided to order The World of Ice and Fire. Unlike the others, I opted for the physical version of this book so that I could have something cool to put on the coffee table.  I have yet to actually read it (starting this weekend) but I can say that it has some pretty awesome graphic art!
