Welcome to ApexThis.Podcast. A chronicle of my journey to start a publishing side business. This will be a behind the scenes look at what I’m doing to make that happen. I’ll share tips and best practices that I learn along the way. Tips that you can use to start your very own indie publishing journey and share your voice with the world.
Coming up…the June Update

Here was my primary focus for June:
- Waited Cover Design
- Waited Formatting
For the secondary focus, I noted to do:
- AT Podcast
- Notes on Mixtape
Let’s jump into the work hours for the month to breakdown the actual work down.

Finance
Two changes this month:
– Kindle royalties for Mixtape
– Art Commission
June was an interesting month in this regard. While the new item was the art commission, the income from Kindle royalties a net 90 from when Mixtape was published. This is a publishing tip to those looking to self-publish: platforms like Amazon have a net 60 or net 90 payout. The first payment is 60 days from the first month the item was on sale and continues monthly. My sales from March and April were paid out in June.
Summary
It was a good month overall. I didn’t push for too much in getting the next story up and out for the end of June. There were some other items that I wanted to check, which delayed release.
What’s Next?
Focus Areas:
- Waited publishing
- Project Witch
- Crimson Door
For July, I want to get the short story Waited published. July is also Camp NaNo. My hope is to rewrite Crimson Door, and write Project Witch. Both have been outlined. They may be shorter than Waited, but we shall see.
In Closing
A good slow month with a brief break from my copyediting class. This starts back in July, so things will trudge along. Will I be able to publish Waited? Will I write the two short stories? Let’s find out in the July update.
P.S. Waited will likely be up by the time you listen to this, lol.
Until next time.
