27 Websites You Should Bookmark

In this post, I will share some of my favorite websites I visit directly to read content. I do have a large collection in which I read via the Feedly RSS reader, but I’ve pared it down to direct websites I hit.

Forums

Neogaf – When you read through this list, you will notice that I do not have a specific gaming section. Two reasons for this 1) I listen to gaming podcasts for news, 2) I read Neogaf for news. I do have old bookmarks to gaming sites for dedicated news and some of my tech sites below list gaming news, but Neogaf is my go-to destination for news and discussion. Over the past decade, it has morphed into my primary gaming news website.

Tech

Just your standard tech sites that I am sure you visit as well. All have their slight variation and area of focus. From general consumer technology, PC hardware, to Android phone news.

The Verge

Engadget

AnandTech

ArsTechnica

AndroidCentral

Android Police

Auto

I love cars and I love reading about them. Oh, racing too! These sites round out my day for auto news.

Autoblog

Jalopnik

Autosport

Mr. Money Mustache – Budgeting was something I had to learn on my own and I put my own methods in place that worked for me.  A friend shared this site with me and I was able to augment some of my own ideas with Mr. Money Mustache. This is a great site and I would suggest that you start with the very first blog post as I did.

Budgets are Sexy

Apartment Therapy – When I was looking to buy a home, Apartment Therapy became a staple to get home ideas from. In addition, I love their weekend project lists as well as the season idea lists they put together. They are great to follow and help you stay organized!

Fresh Home

Houzz – During my home search, I was addicted to Houzz. I still am! This site is great to build together an idea of things you want for your home. Now, you may visit and say “These are mansions, there is no way I can afford that!” You’re right! I do recommend that you scale it back and simply pull together ideas based on layout, color schemes, accessory pieces, paint colors. You can save that particular image and note what you liked about it. Some even include links to buy items in the photo.

Shopping

Amazon –  I pretty much live on Amazon.

Raise – You can buy discounted gift cards here. This is great if you have a big project and need some Home Depot cards or you are planning to make some other big purchase. Buying discounted gift cards can save you a few bucks.

Manpacks – I highly recommend this site for my fellow gentlemen. I’ve been using Manpacks for about two years or longer. I plan to write-up a review of Manpacks, so be sure to subscribe for future updates!

Jackthreads – A great destination to pick up a few items. I’ve purchased many pairs of shorts, shirts, and accessories from here. This is my secret destination to keep me looking spiffy.

Lifestyle

Art of Manliness – I aspire to be manlier. A great read for tips and ideas on  how one can improve himself.

Food

Food Wishes – Chef John!  I love the recipes and attempt to recreate whenever I can.

Life Tastes Good – Byron has some great recipes and awesome videos. I’ve remade a few of his dishes to great success.

Web Design

Web design is a love of mine. Despite not actively being in the field, I still love to read up on technologies and techniques. Maybe one day I will get back into it.

Smashing

Splashnology

Impressive Webs

Productivity

Work Awesome – Being “Awesome” is pretty much my tagline at work.  This site has some good articles on being productive at work.

Other

Office Snapshots – I love office and desk setups. Office Snapshots provide this for me.  They tour various business offices to see how they are setup and how the employees work.  If you just want to see some cool office setups,  check it out!

That’s it! These are the sites that I visit the most and do not relegate to a simple RSS reader. I hope that you enjoyed this list and find something new for yourself.
