The Merch Shop Is Live

 

It’s here! The Merch Shop is finally here!

Through the monthly updates, I share what I am working on and why, as I navigate creating a business to become a production and publishing house. One of these projects has been launching a Merch Shop. I know – it seems counterproductive as you hear about my fingers dipping in all sorts of pies when I should be focusing on Project Dollar.  Therefore, I want to explain a little of the why and where this shop will head.

Why Have A Merch Shop?

This shop was primarily envisioned as a way to help support the Austin Podcasters meetup that I run. You have the Meetup fees, website fees, and other event fees that are paid for. What better way to do that than make and sell t-shirts for the community? As part of the Austin Podcasters branding update, I had this in mind. I then spent time researching online marketplaces, drop-shipping, and more. I chose my marketplace software and drop shipping vendor and began testing prints. The goal of this is to make it as easy as possible with as little money spent as possible – hence me choosing a fulfillment service to print and ship the products versus printing locally and holding stock. Considering I sold my house when moving out-of-state, holding merch stock is more expensive to purchase upfront, store, and then ship myself. Printing on demand is easier from this perspective.

What’s In The Shop?

Currently, the shop is home to a few t-shirts and tote bags for the launch. I have designed and made more shirts, hats, and totes, but they looked great on screen but in-person, they left more to be desired and thus I will hit the drawing board again with them later. For now, enjoy the current merch!

Future Of The Shop?

This will be a slow build. As I stated in my July 2018 Update, this is not an Ugmonk or Johnny’s Cupcakes. What you can look forward to are more shirts as well as introducing books, zines, posters, and other experiments. As I self-generate my own content, these will all be based on the works I create as defined on my Services page unless noted it is for a client. Meaning that Project Dollar will not only consume the audio space but it will be released as a book as well.
