The city zoomed by as I desperately attempted to take a sip of my coffee. Each attempt was thwarted as the bus driver seemed intent on hitting every single bump in the road. The road soon smoothed out and I was finally granted a taste of the sweet morning nectar. That is when a new podcast began to play.

The podcast was The Truth and the episode in question was titled ‘The Death of Poe.”  I was immediately interested from the episode name alone as it was included in my spooky podcast playlist. To be honest, despite listening to podcasts, I had not heard of The Truth podcast before. So I decided to check them out. According to their website, they describe themselves as follows:

THE TRUTH makes movies for your ears: short stories that are sometimes dark, sometimes funny, and always intriguing. Each story is different, and usually 10 to 20 minutes long. We take you to unexpected places using only sound. For best results, use headphones!

Sounds intriguing right? What also was intriguing was the episode in question. The re-tell of someone’s experience followed by a booming voice re-enacting the conversation grabbed my attention and for the next 10 minutes I was transported to another world. An auditory world. Despite staring at the buildings rushing past and the people navigating through each other, hurrying to their destinations; I was busy rebuilding a world of a different time. Filling it with the background hustle of a bar as I listen to the voice of Edgar Allan Poe.

Unfortunately, it came to an end and I had no choice but to play it again. Fantastic episode and fantastic actors. Check out The Death of Poe.
